Autumn Wedding Trends

Autumn is a popular time to tie the knot, despite the hectic holiday season and before winter sets in. We share our insider’s view on all things wedding flowers.

Autumn Glory

This autumn wedding theme was inspired by Pantone’s Fall Colour Report 2017. The season’s most popular colors are flame red, tawny Orange, and golden lime. This gives florists plenty of freedom to create stunning autumnal wedding designs. These stunning examples bring the theme to life with a mix of velvety red roses and fiery Leptospermum. You can even see hints of Ballet Slipper, Marina Blue and other Pantone accent colors for autumn 2017. You can finish the look with miniature squashes or rustic fabrics such as hessian.

Autumn is cooler

Enchanted Forest

Fashion-forward brides will not be disappointed by autumn’s traditional, earthy colors. Instead, they will choose more luxurious shades. This glamorous look is created by combining dusty pinks and dove greys with rich reds, purples and other vibrant colors. Luxurious flower choices include lots of luxurious roses and plump hydrangeas. These flowers will last longer when the temperatures are cooler. You don’t need to overlook the details – adding seasonal berries or fresh fruit is a great way of creating unique and stylish designs. A great tip for autumn brides to follow is to use tea lights or candles in their floral arrangements. This will create a lovely atmosphere and set the tone for your celebrations as the evenings begin to draw.

Amazingly white

A pure white theme is a great choice for brides who want to keep things classic and chic at their autumn weddings. The perfect combination of flowers is lilies, roses, and grey-green leaves. This creates a timeless look that’s also very current. We’ve seen an increase in the popularity of larger bouquets throughout the year, both loosely and carefully constructed. This trend continues into autumn. Cascade bouquets are great for using structural stems such as Calla lilies. An all-white version is especially impressive.

Alternatives for brides

These are our top tips to help you choose the right flowers for your autumn wedding.

Autumn is all about color. The warm colors of autumn are rich in color, including the reds, oranges, and yellows of changing leaves, as well as the bright oranges of pumpkins and conkers.

You can add grevillea painted dark to give it a subtle Halloween touch.

You can also use mini squashes in the arrangements, hinting harvest-time. Additionally, you might consider adding candles to create a cozy Halloween atmosphere.

As a nod towards Halloween and autumn, I suggest using flowers such as dahlias and rudbeckia, cordyline and miscanthus, and oak leaves. Berries, fruit, pumpkins, squashes, and willow branches are good options.

It’s so easy to use autumnal colors for weddings.

You can go bold and big with your flower choices due to the barn’s size. I recommend plenty of hydrangeas, including burgundy and rose, mango calla lilies, dark red and peach dahlias, and plenty of hydrangeas.

You can also find beautiful roses that complement autumnal themes and make a great bouquet. I love Miss Piggy, Vuvuzela and Vuvuzela because of their two-tone orange-pink shades.

You can also go big on the foliage, with larger leaves or willow creating height and form perfect for a barn location.
